A fashion designer and eco-fashion entrepreneur, Thao Vu is the founder of Vietnam's pioneering sustainable fashion label - KILOMET109. The brand's style reflects an elegant interplay between Western and Eastern influences. By blending simple flattering silhouettes with a sophisticated color palette, and adding in subtle touches of Vietnamese heritage, KILOMETO9 creates designs that are fresh and innovative.

Kilomet109 has an important social element as well. KILOMET109 works with 7 craft communities across VietNam - mostly from economically vulnerable ethnic minority groups - to grow and weave organic fibers, create natural dyes, and apply traditional fabric techniques that are the soul of KILOMET 109's contemporary fashion pieces.
Since founding KILOMET109 in 2012 Thao has provided a valuable source of extra income for women in these communities and has helped incentivize the preservation of fading traditions. Thao Vu is also a design mentor and educator, frequently collaborating with universities in Vietnam and internationally to promote sustainable design practices. As one of the founders of Vietnam Design Week Thao has mentored countless young Vietnamese designers on their journey to become sustainable design professionals.
